A passion for flowers is what drives us! Come and share this love and master the art of arranging flowers under the watchful eye of Gerda in a safe and relaxing atmosphere. Gerda's gentle and nurturing method of teaching has helped hundreds of people from all walks of life learn the various techniques required to make a good arrangement.

The Cape School of Floristry was founded in 2001 by Gerda Tuffin in response to repeated requests for flower arranging tuition.

In 1983 Gerda attended the Constantia School of Floristry with Joan Pare and in 1988 she graduated from Stellenbosch University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture.

In 1992 she bought a florist shop, Flowercraft, in Pinelands, Cape Town, and has not looked back. Her husband, Bernard, joined her in the business in 1994. Flowercraft now has four shops around Cape Town.

In November 2000 Gerda completed the International Course in Dutch and European Floral Design at the Boerma Institute, Aalsmeer, Holland.

Gerda has won many competitions in flower arranging over the years. Among her achievements are the Teleflorist Western Cape Champion for 2001, and Interflora Western Cape Designer of the Year for 2003 and 2005. She won second place at the National Interflora Designer of the Year 2006 and came 2nd overall winner in the Interflora Western Cape Designer of the Year 2007.

The various courses offered at the school cater for the absolute beginner, the more advanced flower arranger and for those wanting to do them as refresher courses.

Gerda and her husband Bernard are the owners of the Flowercraft retail florist chain in Cape Town. There is a franchise opportunity available for those interested in opening and running a Flowercraft Franchise.

Hi Gerda,I trust God for your family’s health and that you guys will travel safely back and forth as you venture into your new environment and as you continue to be a blessing to other peoples. I just wanted to again express that I had and an awesome, an amazing experience with you and the other ladies. I have learned so much in these few days and I am excited to do the other classes starting the basic as soon as they start. I have really enjoyed every moment with you and the ladies.
